In Palangarai Settlement, Avinashi block of Tiruppur District, two migrant children from Bihar — Anushika Kumari (8) and Harpita Kumari (7) — were out of school and engaged in household chores while their parents worked long hours in a nearby factory. Their parents had little interest in education, believing it was unnecessary as the children only spoke Hindi.

During a community survey, READ identified these children and initiated discussions with the parents. Initially hesitant due to language barriers, the parents were counselled on the importance of education, safety, and future opportunities. With support from local school teachers, awareness was created about the benefits of learning English, mathematics, and life skills.

Gradually, the parents agreed to enroll their children. READ facilitated the documentation process and successfully enrolled the children in Grades 1 and 2. The children and their parents expressed great happiness, and the school appreciated READ's efforts.

This initiative also inspired the enrollment of four more children from the same settlement, with regular parent meetings now strengthening community engagement.
