In the remote tribal villages of Ittarai, Thadasalatti, and Mavanatham, going to school was once a daily struggle for many children. Students walked long distances through forest paths and hilly terrain, often missing classes due to unsafe travel conditions and lack of transportation. During rainy seasons, attendance dropped further, increasing the risk of school dropout, especially among girls.
To address this challenge, the "Bridging the Distance: School Transport for Tribal Kids" initiative was introduced, providing safe and reliable transportation support for tribal students. The program benefited 43 children across the three villages, helping them travel to school regularly and safely.
With consistent transport access, school attendance and punctuality improved significantly. Teachers observed better classroom participation, while parents felt relieved knowing their children could travel safely every day. The initiative also strengthened parents' confidence in continuing their children's education.
Today, children who once struggled to reach school are attending classes regularly, participating actively, and building hope for a brighter future through education.
